Summer House in Gorce

It was planned to leave the massive base of the building, with a characteristic pebble finish, with its slight widening towards the forest. Within this storey, the technical and economic function will be arranged, supplemented with an external kitchen recess.

The remaining floors – the ground floor and the attic – will be completely replaced – however, the basic division into the living area on the ground floor and the night part in the attic remains unchanged. The core will be the existing chimney and stove. On the ground floor level, glazing has been designed to open the interior to light and views surrounding the plot, with a direct wide exit to the balcony.

In terms of functionality, a new element is the exit to the garden from the kitchen part, which, thanks to the designed terrain stairs, will improve the functioning of the house and activate its connection with the garden.

From the formal point of view, the design retains the features of Podhale architecture and uses local, natural materials. It was decided to leave shingles as a material for the roof sheathing, which proved to be effective in these difficult conditions. Shingle was also used to finish the outer walls on the east, west and north sides.

On the south side, the house reveals a bright, wooden interior in a natural color, protected by an extended eaves of the roof. A balcony with a reinforced concrete structure and a significant projection has been left on the southern façade, for which a new, light balustrade and a smooth terrazzo-textured floor, penetrating into the living area, are designed. The structure of the building will be a wooden skeleton with visible “V” shaped poles made of glued wood, supporting the attic floor.

The designed house, through the applied solutions, will provide users with maximum contact with the surrounding nature and will allow you to fully enjoy the moments of relaxation surrounded by nature.
