House in Beskids

The building was designed in a partial depression of the site (on the forest side), with a retaining wall separating the driveway. The first floor level with the garage is part of the building dug into the site. A covered external staircase, cutting into the body of the building, leads from the entrance square to the second floor, where the living area has been placed, opening up scenically with wide glazing to each side of the plot. In this way, an inverted functional layout of the building was created, with the living area and main entrance on the first floor, and the night area on the first floor, thus giving residents privacy.

The division into floors was made visible in the body of the building by materials and construction. The first floor, due to its direct contact with the terrain, was designed from reinforced concrete and finished with architectural concrete. The resulting solid base of the building, with the character of a high foundation housing the night part with access to the garden and garage, is a motif taken from mountain architecture. The first floor, located entirely above the surrounding terrain, is sanated by a light wooden structure, covered by a mono-pitched roof.

The planking of the facade is divided into two strips: a denser one circling the entire floor, and gables covered with a wider plank. The roof covering and the color scheme of the facade are kept in the same graphite tone. The attic character of the living area has been made visible in the interior, creating rooms of varying heights. This storey has undercuts in the form of two loggias – an entrance and a terrace, turning into a balcony.
